Uncertainty is welcome. Make it happen now.

Since 2007 CUE has been a regular meeting with the unforeseeable;

CUE is a space and time container for people´s needs,

an invitation to make an event happen that doesn´t exist yet,

a call for unexpected responses.

CUE is an invitation to intensify the awareness

of the fact that people meet together on a space and time

with the common task of being stimulated by needs

No program, no conductors,

the course of the event is on your hands.

Do it yourself:

it depends on you that something happens.

Just Come. Just play. Just mess it up all around.

What kind of event do you need/imagine/miss?

CUE invites you to be aware how your own expectations

depends so much on our habits and patterns.

A playground with equipment will be available for you to be used the way you like.

A Collective Game created by players´attitudes.

CUE tries not to be just an impro event or a multidisciplinary jam, CUE wants to intensify the experience of people with different expectations coming together during a time frame and in a specific location.

There is paradox on any attempt to try define CUE. The question is not "what is CUE?" but WHY CUE?

Originally CUE was born out of a specific need: the need of places where it is possible to experiment new ways of expression and behavior within a performative context. There the potential actions have not necessarily to be artistic practices, because any possible mean of doing is warmly welcomed.

After 4 years, CUE wants now to make a step back and focus on the conditions of possibility of any event to happen. CUE is not about what is happening but rather about what are the influences or injections or impulses or stimulus for any possible happening.

The aim of CUE is neither providing some sort of result, nor to create some specific product, but to generate the conditions where the participants bring them selves into play in a collective game of simultaneous actions, where what is sought is nothing else than a new, spontaneous and permanently unstable kind of communication. Keeping in mind that there are no previously defined rules of the game, interaction has to be the key of the communication process, and participants have to allow themselves creating new relationships between each other.

In CUE the artistic thing does not have priority and has no sense to judge the value or artistic quality of the actions of the different participants.

CUE does not also try to create a few conditions where rules of game do not exist but rather to suspend the rules in order that every participant become a person in charge of determining the conditions of the game, taking decisions that deal with the generated situations and with other participants and respecting the equipment and the possible limitations that the space imposes.

Principles as autonomy and tolerance can be helpful in finding answers to the following questions: How can people stay together in a context where there are neither rules nor a director, and the individuals are guided solely by their self-enjoyment principle? How can the participants’ actions not exclude one another? What happens if two different individual enjoyments interfere or collide between each other? How are interferences to be understood? What happens if one or more participants end up disagreeing with the decisions/actions taken by other participants for some reason?

In such a way, participants of all kinds of disciplines (dance, music, theatre, videoart, scenography, cookery, etc...) face each other within a multiple and simultaneous creation process. It is a space where all the different disciplines are put into dialogue while being produced in a spontaneous way. This specific simultaneous participation forces every participant to interact with the space and with the other creators, making all the outcomes to melt into the unpredictable situation that is CUE. CUE is everything that happens in the space within the whole duration of the event.

CUE happened for the first time in March 2007 in the Weissenseer Freitag Gallery of Berlin. Watch the video of the first edition:

CUE SPECIAL EDITION: this time CUE was an anti CUE because we framed it in time and space.
What we wanted to try out this time was a collective improvisation but keeping the frame that a theater or a stage would provide to the event and where the responsability of making the "show" will be given to the participants. Therefore CUE happened within a specific space for the action, the surrounding space will be for people to go in and out. CUE was framed also in time: 2 hours long and it was video recorded and published afterwards on our website.
We asked for the first time to create a space where people can be focus on the game, so we tried to avoid the lounge feeling of past editions. So it would be great that people who join us are coming with a concret need of taking part on the event.
There were no other rules than respect to each others and the space and also to bring the best energies to make this game happen.
